Our Garden Co-op has grown out of the need for community-based food production. This is an increasing necessity both in urban and in more rural, traditional farming areas. We have become too dependent on just a few big agriculture companies to provide all our agriculture needs. This is not a sustainable plan. If everyone had a backyard garden, or even grew a few vegetables and herbs in pots in their living room, we’d be telling quite a different story. Now imagine, if a neighborhood combined forces. Not everyone needs to grow cucumbers or basil. Our simple app unites the neighborhood, tracks the various crops, and links people so they can plan to share the fruits (and vegetables) of their labor. The Our Garden Co-op app is just what is needed in this global movement to smaller, more local agriculture.
